Mec-chemi-tronics Food Trip 2 - Penang Paradise (2)

I wonder is it my laptop or the line or is it Blogger, I am sometimes quite frustrated while uploading the photos. OK, where I stopped in the last post? Oh ya, 1st day was done. So next coming up will be all the delicious food and superhouses that I visited during the trip on the 2nd day.

Jin Hang and some of the gang came to Penang on the 2nd day so it was planned that we spent the 2nd day of the trip on the Island, leaded by Mr. Yen Wei Yun in searching for all the famous food in Penang Island.

But before that, we took our breakfast on the Main Land. Jason brought us to this shop where they serve a great variety of food that goes together with porridge, especially their crispy duck (oh my, I am extremely hungry while typing this post).

*There you are, this is the shop after a long way journey from Jason's house.

*Finally a so called group photo.

*=.=lll.... They were too hungry i guess.

*Ok, here comes the food... 1st on the table will be this, 菜尾 (Sour vege, if I were to called it in english).

*Yam with chicken.

*Roasted duck.

*Tofu with eggs (卤蛋+卤豆腐).

*Jason think these are just side servings.

*For those who knows mandarin, this is the name of the crispy duck I mentioned earlier.

*Jason's favourite duck, and he complain that the crispy duck serve on that day wasn't perfect (I wonder how delicious can it be when it's perfect).

So after that yummy breakfast, we headed to the Island to meet up with Wei Yun and the gang. It's been like almost 7 years since my last visit to Penang Island. I am not too sure how does the Penang Bridge looks like.

*On the Penang Bridge

Upon reaching Penang Island, we were leaded to another luxury mansion, where our coursemate Mr. Y live (Due to his demand, I am only allowed to post the photos of his house without mentioning about his identity. I will try my best not to make this confused).

*Front view of his house. This is like another resort entrance. I wonder why Penang punya homo sapien so freaking rich.

*Main entrance to his living hall.

*This pathway lead you to something you would probably said "WOW" when you see what's behind that wall.

*Another view of the pathway.

*Looks like a fish pond right?

*It is actually a personal swimming pool!

*The living room.

*Viewed from inside the living room.

*Chong Woi was too excited to get down to the pool.

*Taken from outside the pool.

*Some refreshment before Mr. Y brought us to visit the entire mansion.

*Dining room.

*They were amazed with his entertainment room.

*Inside the entertainment room.

*Unique isn't it?

*Jacuzzi in a house!

*Time to explore the second floor.

*Another entertainment room I guess, or maybe a second living hall.

*Chee Yang asked me to post this. Cute =).

*Taken from upstairs.

*The photo Kha Liang is holding suppose to be Mr. Y childhood photo, but if you were to look closer, it sure looks alike Kha Liang.

*Rubic cube training session. These are the masters.

*Poker cards group.

Finally, we receive call from Jin Hang that they were already at bus station. And so, we head off to pick them up from there and went for our lunch.

*This is the restaurant where they called it Padang (that "leng lui" there is Hui Mynn, the only girl in our food trip).

*Like inside meeting room, discussing what to eat. Kai Siang, pay attention.

*Time to order.

*First serving, Ice Kacang with single scoop ice-cream.

*Cendol. I like this one very much.

*Rojak.

*This is the most delicious one among all, Fried Oyster with egg.

*This is Penang yong tao fu (釀豆腐). Yes, it looks so different from the one in KL.

*Po Pia

*Asam Laksa

*The 1st Group photo.

*Padang's food is really very nice. See, all empty.

*Kai Siang is going over t the other side to "cari makan".

*Organizer of the Trip, Mr. Foo Jin Hang.

*My don-know-girl-or-boy friend, Chong Woi. He last visit to barber was like century ago.

After that very satisfying lunch, we set sail to visit one of the famous Asam Laksa uncle. He doesn't own a shop and only sell asam laksa on a motorbike. And the best thing is that his asam laksa is DELICIOUS. Besides asam laksa, he also sells popiah that serve together with asam laksa soup. Unique isn't it? But too bad no photos for the food here. Perhaps the foods were too delicious till no one remember to take photos.

*Everyone needs to stand to eat if you do not want to ask for drinks in that shop.

*The uncle (which i don know what is his name)

*Kai Siang and the uncle. He is always with his thumb up post =.=.

Initially Wei Yun wanted to bring us to New World Park to eat fried oyster and ice-kacang (Again =.=). But unfortunately, the shops no longer selling those food. So we end up wondering around the square for nothing.

*Still discussing of where to go next. I m quite tired at that time actually.

*Chong Hong on a Pink elephant =). Nick, you must see this. My friend Chong Hong is riding on you. hahahaha

*Jin Hang and Chong Hong. I am not very sure what's going on here.

Due to the extreme boredom, we drove all the way to Gurney Plaza to have a walk and at the same time let some of the foods that we just ate to digest before it is ready for the dinner. And here are the photos of what we did there.

*Kai Siang and Chee Yang. Romantic betulnya.

*Christmas tree at Gurney Plaza

*We are now opposite Gurney Plaza and besides the sea.

*What we saw on the "beach*

*Everyone is too bored.

We saw something "spectacular" on the seaside. We saw a couple holding hands enjoying the breeze of the sea while walking to their destination. And out of a sudden a state police walk towards them and they somehow have a conversation and we saw the police wrote something a piece of paper. According to Jin Hang, the State law in Penang stated that a guy and a girl cannot hold hands or do something beyond that, if not you will be summoned. And so we tried out to see whether is it true or not.

*Take 1.

*Take 2. And at last, still no police coming over to warn us or anything, so we decided to give up.

*A group photo outside Gurney Plaza. Kai Siang is again with his thumb up post =.=

*Inside G-Hotel

*The lobby of this hotel is very spacious.

We spend the entire evening in Gurney Plaza until the rain stops. Then it's time for dinner. Our dinner was besides a road where a lot of hawkers stall gathered along that road side selling all kinds of yummy food. Below are some of the pics of our dinner.

*I don know why dessert always comes first. This is the Tong Sui of the day.

*Wantan mee (man, I m extremely hungry now).

*Ladies & gentlemen, this is not Nasi Lemak.

*This is........

*.... is.......

*........ (Patient is a virtue)

*Cha Kuey Tiao!

*Not to say very delicious. I expect more from Penang Cha Kuey Tiao.

*Tofu and Kaozi.

Everyone wasn't very full after the dinner, so Wei Yun brought us to another hawker stall and again, is also beside a road.

*I forgot what is this already and it is so dark here in this photo. But as far as my memory concern, this bowl of mee (I guess) is very nice.

*Another Tong Sui

*And Tong Sui again.

*The Tong Sui family.

2nd day of the trip was rather enjoying and tiring as well. And we ate quite a number of Penang Island famous food such as asam laksa, popiah and etc. After a whole day on the island, is time to get back to Jason's mansion and had some good rest for the next day. Since we came over to the island by driving through the Penang bridge, we use another alternative to return to the Main Land.

*By Ferry!

*A group photo on board of the ferry.

*Mechatronics All Star Team.

*Bing and Hui Mynn trying to imitate the scene in Titanic.

*Chong Hong and Chong Woi trying to imitate Bing & Hui Mynn =.=lll.

*Bing's masterpiece. He captured this while we were almost reaching the Port.

*While on our way back to Jason's house, we saw this. Jin Hang, I didn't know that you already got yourselves a Degree in Medical and even owns a clinic.

(To be continued....)
